terminus of the Southeast Connector
which is a new by-pass road corridor

City. This connector is now called Elk
Vale Road which is the north route of
the
Heartland Expressway, this new
federally funded highway connects Rapid
City to Denver, linking I-90 to I-80,
I-76 and I-70. Exit 61 is the direct
route to
Mt Rushmore and
Black Hills attractions via the
Southeast Connector, Elk Vale continues
to carry increasing commuter traffic to
the area’s largest employers. One of the
major routes to
Ellsworth Air Force Base,
Rapid City Regional Hospital and
Rapid City Regional Airport.
